When it comes to giving back to the community, TRREB Members make a real difference. Whether it is helping to build homes, raising much-needed charitable funds, or collecting canned goods, they make neighbourhoods better.
Every year, REALTORS® donate their time to support important shelter-based charities, including food banks and helplines. This year, REALTORS Care® Week is taking place from November 15 to 21, 2021.
But, it’s so much more than a week for TRREB Members. Year-round, they commit to bettering the lives of others by using their voices to raise awareness on the importance of safe housing and resources to get people back on their feet.
One of the ways our Members give back is through the Ontario REALTORS Care® Foundation’s (ORCF) Every REALTOR® Campaign. Since 2008, TRREB has donated $1 per Member per Month, and over $7 million has been raised to house and feed some of our most vulnerable. This fall alone, 126 charities received funding to support numerous resources and operations.

The Breakfast Program supported by the Toronto Foundation for Student Success is one of the organizations Members contribute towards. Stephanie, a volunteer with the Breakfast Program , shares why investing in young people supports the success of their future. This program feeds more than 200,000 children and provides food cards to cover the cost of breakfast for 30 days so students get nutritious food while at home.
TRREB Members also give back to Habitat for Humanity GTA. This shelter-based charity connects families to communities through affordable homeownership, while also creating a safe place to build strength and stability. Habitat homeowners Maria and Rafael share what a home means to them and why volunteers help make this possible.
Lastly, the donations raised through the ORCF also includes Feed the Need in Durham Region. This organization fights food insecurity, including community food banks, shelters, and meal programs. Hear from Andy, a volunteer driver , who shares the remarkable impact 1,900 pounds of donated food had on our community. Feed the Need successfully runs over 80 programs and distributes 1.44 million pounds of food each year.
